Where did the name Orange Sunshine come from?
Often times when we mention the name Orange Sunshine, people ask where the name came from. It actually are the words used to describe Australia. It was called the land of Oranges and Sunshine. I picked this up from a movie and thought it was the most beautiful way to describe Australia. It stuck with me and one day decided to name this business after it. (please note: if you have seen the movie you will know it is actually a very sad film about exploitation).

Why Choose Two Photographers?
Two photographers are great for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the getting ready coverage can be done in 'real time'. For example, when there is one photographer, they have to go to the guys before the girls and get a 'pretend dress'. The girls have to get ready around a half an hour earlier in order for the photographer to get to the ceremony around a half hour prior to capture guests etc. Secondly, if you have a large guest list and candid guest shots are really important to you, a second photographer can capture lots of this type of thing. They can even stay doing that while couple photos are being done.
03
What is our style our style of photography?
One of the biggest things couples mention to us is they don't really enjoy having their photo taken or they don't like posed photos.
Working with us the only real time there will be the old fashioned type of 'posed' photo will be when we do the group and family photos.
Other than that, we aim to keep things really relaxed. We aim to capture the day as it unfolds in a really natural way.
When we do the couple photos, we have ways of helping you be completely relaxed and at ease with each other. This results in very natural, organic images of you both, plus they are very flattering because they are so natural.

Who are you guys?
Jo – First and foremost I am a passionate wedding photographer. I often have my head in weddings and creativity. After that, I am a hopeless romantic. I love a good romantic film. I am not big on sports but one of my favourite things is heading to the snow and snowboarding. Music wise, I prefer more alternative type music that is a bit more timeless. I enjoy spending time with my family. We enjoy dinners with friends, the odd boardgame, my favs are Cluedo and Risk. We walk our dogs a lot down at the beach and I enjoy exercise as much as I can (which is not enough). One of my favourite things is eating out and experiencing new foods, it is inspiring to me. I love nature for weddings the most, big views and lots of natural light.
Steve – An award winning documentary film maker whose work has been featured on television multiple times. Whilst he tends to stick to corporate work more these days, his past includes travel shows, nature documentaries and historical shows. He studied photography as soon as he left school and moved into video work in his mid 20s. He has travelled a lot for his work. He spent quite a lot of time on the surfing circuit filming big waves in Tahiti and Fiji. His personality at weddings is easy going and fun. He is really enjoyable to be around. His passion in photography is street style - capturing natural moments with people. He has a big interest in alternative health and world events and is very well read on both of these.

How long until our images are delivered?
We ask for six weeks turn around time for photos and films but always provide a sneak peek within a week. We do aim to get everything to you faster if we are able to. Keep in mind that on full day weddings there can be around a week involved in processing all the images.
06
How can I make sure I look good on camera?
Sometimes couples tell us they don’t really like having their photo taken. We have found that on your wedding day you are so happy and look so wonderful all dressed up that we can’t help but get good photos.
We encourage couples, especially brides, not to worry on their wedding day – just enjoy yourself, enjoy all the fruits of your efforts and you will naturally look great in your photos.
Because our style is mostly documentary you won’t have to spend too much time smiling for the camera as we capture candid moments where you naturally smile.
07
Do you edit the images?
We put our ‘touch’ on every single image we provide you. We have our own unique look that is created by us and tailored to suit each wedding as every wedding is different.
08
Do we have ownership of the images?
We provide all your images to you in high resolution so you can select which ones you like and get quality prints done. We also provide photos in low resolution so you can upload to the internet too. We provide an online gallery of about 100 images for you to share with family and friends. The images are not watermarked.
We do recommend talking to us about printing options. Having tried and tested all the ‘cheaper’ options, we do find the prints don’t come out with the right colourings. We only use trusted professional labs and can provide you with high quality prints.
09
How many images do you provide?
We provide between 80 - 100 images per hour.
10
Do you use professional equipment?
We both use Canon 5D III’s and for filming we have a range of cameras for different parts of the wedding.
We edit images in Lightroom and use a variety of external hard drives for images and back ups.
11
Will you work with the timeline on the wedding day?
We have a good understanding of how long each part of your wedding will take and will work with you on a customised timeline. We love shooting during the ‘golden hour’ which is around the time the sun sets and tailor our timelines to work in with this. We recommend meeting with your photographer before sending wedding invitations out, to establish time guides for your ceremony and reception.
12
Do you have a lot of experience?
Yes, Steve is the head photographer and has been filming and photographing for over 30 years. He also is the Director of a commercial business called Aslan Productions (www.aslanproductionsaustralia.com.au) so brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Orange Sunshine.
13
Do you travel for weddings?
Yes, we love travelling and do quite a bit already. Steve’s work has taken him around the globe.
14
What is the style of your wedding films?
Wedding Films have come a long way in the last 30 years, becoming more of a cinematic experience with imagery and edits that make them creative and emotional.
Orange Sunshine specialise in films that are a cinematic experience about 1 – 3 songs long, depending upon which package you choose.
We are able to design the film to your tastes and can include things such as special messages to the bride or groom which we can use as a voice over, and music we purchase solely for use in your film.
Our equipment, experience and expertise means we are able to provide a wonderfully creative film with slow motion and light filled imagery.
15
What if I want to watch the whole of my wedding from start to finish?
Orange Sunshine specialise in smaller cinematic films that includes highlights of ceremony vows and speeches. We can however provide you will a full presentation of vows and speeches as an “add-on” to our normal packages.
A film that allows you to watch your wedding in whole from start to finish is more a documentary style film which we don’t do. We specialise in smaller cinematic films that capture the essence of your day, we don’t do documentary style films that cover your 5 to 8 hour day from start to finish.
16
Can I have the raw footage of my wedding?
Without getting to technical, the basics you need to understand about film footage is the following:
Raw footage is the unedited footage taken directly from your filmographer's camera. It has no colour correction, no cuts and is filled with unused footage that never makes it to the final version of your edited wedding film.
You probably don't have the computer program you need to view the raw footage as it is in a unique format.
You probably don't have the room on your computer to view the raw footage as it is very large in size, often bigger than what a normal computer holds. Video editing is very hard on your computer. Part of what makes a professional editor is the financial investment they have made to get the best equipment to make the process go smoothly, that includes some serious computer power. Also the cost of storage and back up of your wedding footage can be very high.
There are several cameras used to get different angles of things like the ceremony and speeches so watching raw footage would equate to watching these things twice or three times from different angles. Some of the footage can be rather dull and equated to hours of watching home videos shot by mum and dad.
There are many takes done of certain things such as filming the rings – are you really up to watching six takes of the ring to get the right shot?
Video editing is hard. Taking 2 or 3 camera angles of footage and audio, syncing them up and editing them takes a good amount of skill to do well and right. A good editor is a good story teller with a strong understanding of timing necessary to bring to life the footage they are editing.
So the bottom line is we don't provide the raw footage of your film. We don't really want anyone seeing it. Our images are our reputation and branding, so we need to be very careful what is viewed by anyone other than us.
17
Can we meet with you?
Absolutely, we would love to meet with you to chat about your wedding. It is important that you feel comfortable with the photographer you ultimately choose, so we understand that you may wish to meet just to see if we're a good fit.
